For what will be the biggest fight of his political life.
Senator Bill Nelson released a press release on his
campaign website yesterday, in response to the announcement from Katherine Harris. The original web page was titled
Nelson Draws Radical Right Opponent as I
commented here. Now However, the Senator has deleted the reference to this page from his front page news section, but it is still accessible through the direct link.
More around the corner...
In the June 7th press release from the Senator's office, did little more than take the Harris press release from the AP and a few bio bits of Nelson at the end. Also, the page was hastily uploaded with dead links to images and bad formatting. Now its [almost] scrubbed from the public view.
I for one have not approved of every vote from Nelson. But this will be a particularly difficult challenge against Harris, one that needs to be won. And releasing a press release that demonizes Harris as Radical and then retracting it, will not be the path to victory.
Sen. Nelson, stick to your guns, repost that Harris is Radical. She is. Edit the release so that it will name why she is radical. Don't just re-post a press release that came from her office.
I won't pretend to know why it was removed. Maybe it was viewed too harsh too early, by you or some advisor. Maybe a staffer hastily put it up, though you may view the message wrong, the timely matter to which your office responded was correct. But please stop bringing a knife to a gun fight. Start characterizing Harris as the Radical she is.
